NHRA stands for National Hot Rod Association. Founded in 1951 in California, NHRA has 80,000 members and more than 35,000 licensed competitors. It is the largest promoter of professional drag racing in the world today and offers opportunities to participate in the sport for kids from age 8 up to the professional adult drag racers. NHRA has many well-known business partners and sponsors that include Coca-Cola, Budweiser, Pontiac, and GMC. Second only to NASCAR in popularity, NHRA is moving rapidly into mainstream American culture.
There are more than 20 categories of competition in the NHRA, including Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle, Funny Car, and Top Fuel.
